Back in my freshman year of college, I did my first NaNoWriMo and I actually finished. I wrote what I considered to be a fairly decent novel about a princess and a demon set in a fantasy kingdom; I still think it was decent, given the circumstances.
Since then, I've made a lot of tweaks and added a few different subplots. As a result, the overall tone and flow of the novel isn't as cohesive as I want it to be. And the voice I had when I was 18 is a lot different from the one I have at 27. So much about me, about the world, has changed since then.
For all these reasons, I've decided to give this book a full rehaul. I'm rewriting it totally.
This isn't my first foray into rewrites. One of my upcoming novels, The Things that Come, is a reimagining of something I worked on when I was younger (and sometimes continue to play around with from time to time).
I'm really hoping that with the summer coming up, I'll have the concentration, energy, and resources to dedicate to this new (old) project.
